Melanie Colón Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Movement Ecology in Birds: Call for submissions In the last decade, the use of new tracking technologies triggered a revolution in the studies on animal movements, allowing to study which internal and external factors affect movement rates at different spatial and temporal scales. Birds are among the most studied taxa, in particular migrating species. The goal of this special column is to show the variety of both migration strategies at a large scale and movement patterns at the local scale across different species, using different tools such as satellite transmitters, geolocators and tracking radars.
