  1. Refuge Management: June 1 – August 2024 Works with refuge staff to gain experience in habitat restoration, bird surveys, and visitor services. This position is stationed at Bandon Marsh National Wildlife Refuge in Bandon, OR. Duties include: Identify, monitor, map, and remove invasive plants to improve habitat Participate in coastal prairie restoration projects. Requires camping at a remote field site with no running water or electricity 1-2 nights/week Conduct weekly nest monitoring of black oystercatchers and other on-going seabird research projects Assist with bi-monthly mosquito monitoring activities Assist with refuge public outreach programs Opportunities to assist with other programs within the Refuge Complex Requirements: B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under the age of 31 Valid state driver's license Must be able to work independently and in groups Must have good observational and communication skills Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts Benefits: $1,600 monthly living stipend Free co-ed bunkhouse style lodging with laundry, wi-fi, utilities, and more included (sorry, no pets) Professional development, training, and networking opportunities End of term completion bonus Work vehicle and equipment provided (Intern is responsible for personal transportation needs) How to Apply: Email application packet(s) as a single PDF to oregoncoast@fws.gov by January 22, 2024.   2. Wildlife Biology: May 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025 Offers the opportunity to gain field experience conducting bird surveys and a variety of other biological field techniques. This position is stationed at the Refuge Complex Headquarters in Newport, OR.
