    Wildlife Biology: May 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025

    Offers the opportunity to gain field experience conducting bird surveys and a variety of other biological field techniques. This position is stationed at the Refuge Complex Headquarters in Newport, OR.

    Duties Include:

    • Conduct seabird surveys and productivity monitoring using established field protocols, which involve identifying birds by sight and sound
    • Count seabirds from aerial photographs using GIS software
    • Assist with the coordination of biology volunteers
    • Assist with predator control, weed treatments, and burrow mapping on offshore islands
    • Enter field work data into MS Excel and Access database

    Requirements:

    • B.Sc. preferred or some undergrad coursework in biology, natural resources, park management, or related field
    • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident under the age of 31
    • Valid state driver's license
    • Must be able to work independently and in groups
    • Must have good observational and communication skills
    • Schedule flexibility, including weekend, holidays, and morning/evening shifts
