Description: Wild Bird Research Group offers a paid part-time position for a Program Coordinator. The Wild Bird Research Group is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our team as a Program Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating fundraising efforts and acquiring grants to support our research initiatives focused on wild bird conservation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for wildlife conservation, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in fundraising and grant acquisition. This position involves scientific and technical writing, payment management, data management, and event planning. The coordinator will collaborate with different teams to ensure the seamless execution of programs, maintain accurate records, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the organization's research projects and initiatives.
- Identify and pursue potential funding sources, including grants, sponsorships, and donations.
- Prepare and submit grant proposals, ensuring compliance with application requirements and deadlines.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding agencies to enhance financial support for the organization.
- Collaborate with the research team to understand project requirements and funding needs.
- Maintain accurate records of fundraising activities, grants applied for, and funds received.
- Organize fundraising events and campaigns to engage the community and raise awareness about wild bird conservation.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and make adjustments as necessary.
- Prepare reports for donors and funding agencies, outlining the impact of their contributions on the organization's projects.
- Generate accurate and timely scientific reports based on program outcomes and research findings.
- Summarize complex scientific data into comprehensible reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
- Collect, organize, and analyze program-related data to identify trends and insights.
- Maintain databases and ensure data integrity for reporting and analysis purposes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (such as environmental science, biology, or nonprofit management) or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience in fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations within the nonprofit sector.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey the organization's mission and goals effectively.
- Excellent research and analytical skills to identify potential funding opportunities.
This paid position is approximately 4 - 6 hours per week and spans six months, with the possibility of additional hours upon reassessment after six months. Compensation will be hourly. Preference will be given to candidates who live locally, but we will consider candidates who would work remotely. The work schedule can be flexible as needed. You will report directly to the organization’s Executive Director and will interface with the Media and Fundraising committees of the organization’s Board of Directors.

WBRG and its partners conduct various research projects and education programs in the eastern U.S. and Central America, including; MoSI banding in Costa Rica; MAPS banding in NC and NJ; owl migration and winter ecology research in NJ; Motus research in NC; educational programing and outreach at all stations; and offers volunteer and internship opportunities at all stations.
