Laura Bies
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is initiating a 5-year status review of the Alaska breeding population of Steller’s Eider (Polysticta stelleri). The Steller’s Eider is listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. A 5-year status review is based on the best scientific and commercial data available at the time of the review. The USFWS is soliciting the submission of any new information on the species that has become available since the last 5-year reviews were conducted in 2019. According to the agency, the comments and recommendations that will be most useful and likely to be relevant to agency decisions are: (1) Those supported by quantitative information or studies; and (2) Those that include citations to, and analyses of, the applicable laws and regulations. Comments should be submitted to the USFWS by March 11, and can be submitted via email or U.S. mail: nathan_graff@fws.gov U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Attention: Nathan Graff Northern Alaska Fish and Wildlife Field Office 101 12th Avenue Fairbanks, AK 99701
