Laura Bies Posted November 15, 2023 Share Posted November 15, 2023 The U.S. Fish and Service is seeking public input on a draft Environmental Impact Statement and draft Barred Owl Management Strategy that addresses the threat of the non-native and invasive Barred Owl to native Northern and California Spotted Owls. The Northern Spotted Owl is protected under the Endangered Species Act, and the California Spotted Owl were proposed for listing in February 2023. The USFWS has identified competition from non-native and invasive Barred Owls as one of two main threats to the Northern Spotted Owl’s survival.
