Susan Elbin
Call for Symposia Submissions. It’s not too early to start planning your talk for the 37th Annual Meeting of the WATERBIRD SOCIETY. The first deadline is fast approaching! We are inviting you to contribute to the scientific program by submitting suggestions for symposium sessions. We need those by NOVEMBER 15, 2012. Central themes of the meeting will be life history, migration and migratory bird conservation at the Wadden Sea and along the East Atlantic Flyway, but other topics are welcomed. Symposia proposals should include: (1) title of symposium, (2) a 2-5 sentence description of the symposium topic, (3) names, contact information, and presentation topics of presenting speakers. The meeting will be held approximately 11 months from now: 24-29 September 2013, in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Our host will be the Institute of Avian Research Vogelwarte Helgoland, one of the oldest ornithological research institutes in the world. The meeting venue is the Stadthalle, located in the center of Wilhelmshaven on the German North Sea coast. Three full days of scientific sessions and amazing field trips are being scheduled. The meeting will have one concurrent day and several field trips with the Wader Study Group. Send your symposium suggestions to the chair of the scientific program (Susan Elbin selbin@nycaudubon.org) and to the local committee chair (Peter Becker peter.becker@ifv-vogelwarte.de).
