  1. Description: The Nongame Bird Program (NBP) at the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking bids from qualified independent contractors to execute secretive marshbird surveys in the Rainwater Basin in south-central Nebraska from approximately mid-May through mid-July 2020. The selected contractor will conduct surveys that follows a schedule provided by the NBP. In all, the selected contractor will navigate to 300 pre-determined surveys points and then conduct call broadcast surveys for selected species that follows methods outlined by Conway (2011; see Waterbirds 34: 319- 346). Many survey locations require the ability to hike in and out of dense wetland vegetation and standing water. Field conditions are likely to be variable. Qualifications: Interested parties should have knowledge about and experience conducting avian surveys. Interested parties should be familiar with secretive marshbird species (rails, grebes and bitterns) that occur in the Great Plains. Black and King rail are focal species of the project. Interested parties must have the ability to work as an independent contractor. Bid Submission Deadline: 12 p.m. Central Standard Time, 7 February 2020 Interested individuals and parties should request the full RFP (request for proposals) package from the point-of-contact listed below. Detailed information about the project and bid process is outlined in the RFP. This is a competitive bid process.
