  1. I am seeking a motivated, intrepid individual who enjoys working independently to undertake a project on geographic variation in Bewick’s wren song as part of a MS degree at Missouri State University. The student will investigate how Bewick’s wren song cultures vary geographically, especially with respect to variation in population density. Field work will require extensive independent travel in Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. As a MSc student, the successful applicant will be supported by a combination of research and teaching assistantships, with teaching assistantships during spring and fall semesters and a research assistantship for summer support in the first (and possibly the second) summer. I am seeking a student who can enroll summer 2020 (starting in May). For more information on my new lab at Missouri State University, visit jaymcentee.org. Bachelor’s degree in biology or related field; minimum GPA 3.0. Competitive GRE scores may be required to obtain a teaching assistantship (typically, scores >305 [quantitative + verbal] are competitive for teaching assistantships), however interested students should enquire even if they have not yet taken the GRE. Requirements and a description of the Missouri State University graduate program can be found at http://graduate.missouristate.edu/futurestudents/. Please email as a single attached file a letter of interest, undergraduate transcripts, a CV/resume, GRE scores if you have them, a writing sample, and names/contact information for three references, to jaymcentee@missouristate.edu. Information on the Masters program at Missouri State University can be found at https://biology.missouristate.edu/graduate/. Informal enquiries are also welcome. For full consideration, applications for the Missouri State University Masters program should be completed by February 1, 2020.
