  1. Job Description: Assist research team studying grassland bird responses to cattle grazing and plant diversity in CRP grasslands of Kansas, late spring-summer 2019. Individual needed to perform transect surveys of adult birds by sight and sound and assist with plant and insect sampling. Orientation begins May 17; plant and insect sampling through July 27, perhaps July 29. Bird surveys will require the first 3 hours (approximately) of each morning; majority of each field day assisting with plant and insect sampling. Qualifications: Academic training in biology / ecology. Must have previous experience with bird identification by sight and sound, will ideally have experience with line transect or point-count surveys, and must be >20 years of age with a valid driver’s license (for driving rental vehicles). Must be able to work independently and with a team, be cordial to landowners, and tolerant of hot weather, physical labor, early starts, long hours, 6-day work weeks, living in close quarters with other technicians in rural Kansas, and also be able to transport themselves to the field base station.
