    WYOBIRD (Wyoming Bird Initiative for Resilience and Diversity, https://wyobird.org/) invites applications for a full-time staff position to support our activities and development. This is a full-time, fiscal-year (12-month), benefited position. WYOBIRD is a new initiative run by faculty and students at the University of Wyoming, with Dr. Tarwater as the Director. WYOBIRD’s mission is to advance knowledge, appreciation, and conservation of birds. We do this by providing training to undergraduate and graduate students, conducting public outreach, connecting with other ornithologists, fundraising, and running a nest box study and a fall banding station near the University of Wyoming. The Project Coordinator would be in charge of coordinating all the WYOBIRD activities, conducting outreach, and helping the initiative grow. Work would also include supporting Dr. Tarwater in running her research lab. This could include coordinating the operational, financial and personnel functions of a designated project under limited supervision, and other logistics as needed.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Aid in the continuation of current initiatives and in the development of new initiatives associated with WYOBIRD, including organizing workshops, invited speakers, research activities, undergraduate internships, and public outreach.

    Maintain the WYOBIRD website and social media.

    Attend and run public outreach events.

    Aid in logistics associated with research, including aiding in permits, equipment purchasing, and other logistics as needed. 

     

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

    Potential for some time outdoors in Laramie helping undergraduate students with research on birds, if so desired.

    May perform additional assignments as directed.

     

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

    This position requires the successful candidate to be available to work on campus, with flexibility to work at home up to 2 days/week.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Education:  Bachelor’s degree in a related field

    Experience: 1 year work-related experience

    Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: 

    Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) that is compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.

     

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

    Demonstrated clear, articulate, and respectful written and oral communication skills

    Experience and demonstrated ability to effectively work independently and as a team

    Effective time management skills, clear organization and prioritization of time-sensitive tasks

    Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office

    Interest in student initiatives

    Problem solving abilities
