Lis Glassco Hudson was the ultimate mentor for many of today’s most successful zoo professionals and aviculturists. When Lis passed away her family and many friends decided to establish this fund to help carry on her efforts at bringing young people into aviculture.
The fund continues to receive contributions and as the amount increases it is hoped that it can be converted into an endowment and work exclusively from the interest generated. The IWWA Conservation Grants Committee administers the program.
Applications for the Internship program are reviewed upon receipt and successful candidates receive a period of training under an experienced IWWA member deemed an appropriate mentor by the Committee. The Internship award covers a percentage of the cost of air fares or other expenses needed to help make it possible for the intern to take advantage of the opportunity.
