Arctic terns, breeding in the northern part of the Netherlands, have been tagged with geolocators. It revealed a spectacular flyway through the Atlantic and Indian Ocean towards the Antarctic. Two individuals passed southern Australia and one even passed New Zealand towards Wilkes Land in the east Antarctic. See http://www.buwa.nl/en/migration-arctic-tern.html and the publication at http://ardea.nou.nu/ardea_show_abstract.php?lang=uk&nr=4099
