Chris Merkord Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Lesser redpolls have taken to feeding on nyger Seed of hope for waning redpollExpress.co.uk New research from the British Trust for Ornithology shows this delicate finch has been sweeping into a record number of gardens in what is hopefully a new and positive survival strategy.Findings from the year-round BTO Garden BirdWatch survey show a 15-fold increase in the number visiting our backyards compared to five years ago.What seems to be the case is that the lesser redpoll, a species that has declined dramatically across its British range over the past few decades, has suddenly developed a taste for nyger.View the full article
