Seed of hope for waning redpoll
New research from the British Trust for Ornithology shows this delicate finch has been sweeping into a record number of gardens in what is hopefully a new and positive survival strategy.
Findings from the year-round BTO Garden BirdWatch survey show a 15-fold increase in the number visiting our backyards compared to five years ago.

What seems to be the case is that the lesser redpoll, a species that has declined dramatically across its British range over the past few decades, has suddenly developed a taste for nyger.
