Upcoming Smithsonian Announcement for Research Curators in Vertebrate Zoology: The Dept. of Vertebrate Zoology at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History plans to advertise for multiple research curators later in 2024. There will be three positions, one each in herpetology, ichthyology, and ornithology. These are early-career positions for Federal Research Zoologists. The starting salary for all hires will be roughly equivalent to an assistant professor, with excellent benefits. The positions are permanent although year one is a probationary period. The Federal hiring process does not allow for spousal hires. U.S. Citizenship will be required.  Information on how to apply will be provided when the announcements open.
