Albatross population rises to 3,000 on Torishima: Survey

The population of the endangered short-tailed albatross (above), a species designated as a special Japanese natural treasure, has recovered to about 3,000 birds on Tokyo's Torishima island, up from less than 200 more than 30 years ago, according to an expert.
