Fern Davies
Even if traveling from the United States, and even if traveling by car, you must have a valid passport to enter Canada. You also need a valid passport to return to the United States. http://www.consular....requirement.asp http://www.dhs.gov/f.../travelers.shtm There are other documents, known as Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative complaint documents that may be acceptable: http://www.cbp.gov/x...n/ready_set_go/ But may as well get a passport... http://travel.state....sport_1738.html
Chris Merkord
Even if traveling from the United States, and even if traveling by car, you must have a valid passport to enter Canada. US citizens traveling by car only may use a US Passport Card instead of a US Passport. It is cheaper and I've heard it takes less time to process (i.e. for you to receive it). The Passport Card cannot be used for travel by air, however.
