    The Connecticut Audubon Society invites applicants for a seasonal position at 35 hours per week beginning March 1 through October 1, 2024 as coordinator for the Osprey Nation Project.

     Founded in 1898, the Connecticut Audubon Society operates nature facilities in Fairfield, Milford, Pomfret, Hampton, and Sherman, a center in Old Lyme, and an EcoTravel office in Essex.

    Connecticut Audubon manages 22 wildlife sanctuaries encompassing almost 3,400 acres of open space in Connecticut, and educates over 100,000 children and adults annually. Connecticut Audubon is an independent organization, not affiliated with any national or governmental group.

    Osprey Nation is a statewide citizen science effort aimed at monitoring the size, productivity, and health of Connecticut’s osprey population. The successful candidate is responsible for digital mapping of all CT Osprey nests, coordinating volunteer monitors, and maintaining Osprey population trends and nesting statistics. Additionally the candidate will be responsible for writing a season-end report. Other duties may be required.

    The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

    * Excellent communication and time management skills. The ability to communicate professionally with stewards via email or phone on a daily basis.

    * Proficiency with Excel and Outlook with the ability to update nesting database daily and send mass emails to stewards monthly.

    * Attention to detail while managing field observations, datasets, and email correspondence.

    * Familiarity with GIS/digital mapping. Comfortable plotting and positioning GPS locations based on submitted reports.

    Knowledge of Osprey biology and conservation is an asset.

    This position will report to the Senior Director of Science and Conservation. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
