    This is a contract position to perform bird surveys for research examining the effect of sustainable management practices on vineyards' soil health and biodiversity metrics. For this position we need an ornithologist who can perform a 1-hr visual and auditory survey of the bird community in each vineyard.

    Location

    There will be 16-20 vineyards in total and they are in the following locations. GPS coordinate will be provided for each site. 

    • Lodi, CA: 2 vineyards
    • Napa Valley: 12-16 vineyards
    • Clear lake Oaks: 4 vineyards

    Timeline

    The goal is for the surveys to be completed as closely together as possible and to occur sometime between 4/8 and 5/1 (earlier the better). 

    Pay

    Regarding pay we are asking interested parties to submit a bid. Please feel free to reach out with any questions. 

    Requirements

    • Be able to identify the different bird species as well as number of birds via auditory and visual ID. 
    • Record the data and provide it in the required format 
      • An example of the required data format is attached.
