      Country: Ecuador
Last Date to Apply: No value
      Open Until Filled: Yes

American Bird Conservancy’s Marine Program seeks a South American Program Coordinator for a one-year contract with possible extension, contingent upon additional funding. The position is based in Ecuador, other locations considered.

ABC’s seabird conservation and bycatch reduction program in South America is expanding and we seek someone to help manage and grow this program. Over the past 10 years we have developed and tested effective bycatch reduction measures in the artisanal long line fishery in Ecuador and are expanding this effort to reach more ports and fishers in Ecuador. The successful applicant will work closely with ABC’s Ecuador-based Ecuador Seabird Bycatch Coordinator to design port and beached bird surveys, manage and analyze data, identify and engage with possible corporate partners, engage government officials, and create technical, financial, and scientific reports.  There is potential to assist with seabird projects in Galapagos, Peru, and Chile.

We seek an independent, organized, problem-solver with the following skills:

Knowledge of and interest in seabirds and marine conservation issues.

Experience with experimental design and analysis based on scientific principles.

Working across individual, community, and regional differences.

    Coordination of field teams.

Experience in project scaling, fundraising, and international strategy.

Positive attitude in the face of persistent conservation challenges.

Spanish fluency with communication skills appropriate for government, industry, and public outreach though media, and creation of reports and contributing to scientific papers.

English fluency with capacity to communicate with US colleagues by phone, email, and writing scientific reports and providing written project updates.

To apply please send a cover letter and resume via email to Sea McKeon at ABCBirdsMarine@gmail.com.  Position open until filled, first review of applications starting 1 April.
