    The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is looking for a detail-oriented team member to join our finance department. Over the past 50 years, ICF has grown from the dream of two college students to a world-renowned conservation effort to save the world’s cranes and the flyways and habitats they frequent.  Our new Senior Accounting Manager will assist in maintaining best practices in our accounting systems and payroll practices.

    Position Summary:

    The Senior Accountant-Compliance Specialist supports the mission of the International Crane Foundation (ICF) by ensuring ICF’s compliance with federal, state, and international regulations and the reporting of such activities to the appropriate governmental entities. The incumbent will manage the portfolio of awards and payments to other organizations, including developing processes and procedures in order to accurately report ICF’s international activities. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Oversee external grants contracts, memos of understanding and consulting agreements ensuring correct payments and that the compliance/regulatory requirements are met. This is accomplished through researching, directing, monitoring, and training staff to these requirements. These efforts should also ensure compliance with the US Federal Grant Single Audit Requirements.

    ·         Conduct oversight of current program partners and third-party service providers including periodic reviews of existing agreements and the evaluation of new relationships.  This includes the oversight of foreign bank accounts, contracts and related transactions, ensuring the proper documentation is accompanied that supports the foundation policies and complies with all domestic and international laws. 

    ·         Prepare and oversee financial policies and procedures to assure strong internal controls are in place and properly executed and that the Foundation is in compliance with Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP) and employs best practices in non-profit accounting. 

    ·         Provide General Ledger technical support focused on staff outside of the US. This support includes setting standards and training ICF employees and other recipients of ICF funds with respect to financial reporting and compliance with grant terms and conditions.

    ·          Prepare and file Form 990 and state charitable registrations.

     

    Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

    ·         Responsible for managing the Expense Management system, overseeing the Procurement and Vendor Management processes, as well as Fixed Asset system from both a process and compliance perspective.

    ·         Ensure compliance with all financial and contract reporting requirements for private or public funding, licensing, or regulatory agencies.

    ·         Other Duties as assigned by Senior Accounting Manager.

    ·         Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work and to work with others to meet designated deadlines and desired results.

    ·         Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills, including the ability to identify problems, research and analyze issues from different perspectives, organize information, reach sound conclusions, and work cooperatively with others to develop and implement effective solutions.

    ·         Attentive to detail and thoroughness.

    ·         Written communication skills, including the ability to write correspondence and reports in a clear, concise, logical, and grammatically correct manner.

    ·         Experience and comfort using word processing and spreadsheet software (MS Office).

    ·         Ability to develop and maintain effective, collaborative relationships with donors, vendors, Board members, other stakeholders, and staff at all levels of the organization. Ability to establish project plans, regularly monitor and track progress on work projects, and ensure appropriate communications with project partners.

    ·         Attentive to detail and thoroughness.

    ·         Work as a constructive member of a team, including the free sharing of information and technical expertise as needed.

    ·         Demonstrate respect and sensitivity for others; inspire trust; and work with integrity and ethically.

    ·         Quickly, effectively, and continually adapt to changes in work environment and duties, processes, and technologies.

     

    Qualifications Required:

    ·         Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business.

    ·         Four or more years' accounting experience

    ·         Two or more years’ compliance experience with International private or public grants.

    ·         Understanding of accounting practices, including FASB and GAAP.

    ·         Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages and Office products.

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    ·         International Accounting and regulations experience.

    ·         Non-profit accounting experience.

    ·         Master’s in business administration or accounting.

    ·         Certified Public Accountant - CPA.

    ·         Internal audit or risk assurance experience.

    ·         Ability to communicate with fellow staff and donors. Communication will include both one-to-one communication, small, and large group communication.

    ·         Must be able to remain in stationary position for 5-7 hours a day.

    ·         Occasionally required to lift and move items up to 20 pounds.

    ·         Occasionally required to move throughout the building and throughout the site. 

     

    Work Environment:

    Office environment with a comfortable climate and limited noise.
