Who we are:
REGI is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of injured or orphaned native bird species and public education of wildlife issues. Founded in 1990 by Marge and Don Gibson, REGI was initially focused on educational programming and field research on avian species, but quickly grew to address the need for a rehabilitation center in the area, especially for raptors and swans. Today, REGI takes in anywhere from 800 to over 1,000 patients each year and provides educational programs to thousands of people.

Benefits/ Compensation:
- $12-15 per hour based on experience
- 10 days of vacation following the first year of employment
- Employees are eligible for reimbursement of up to $500 per year for professional development and educational expenses.
- Employer will pay for one half of the medical insurance premium of any plan selected by an employee and approved by the financial manager.
Position Summary:
Avian Rehabilitation Technicians are responsible for aiding in all aspects of wildlife rehabilitation including, but not limited to, animal intake, animal care, medical care support, enrichment, maintenance of proper diets, and release.
Job Duties:
- Assist in feeding, medicating, and monitoring the health and progress of patients
- Assists with patient admissions (answering phones, coordinating patient rescue/transport, creating medical records, and updating electronic database).
- Correctly identify avian species, learn natural history and developmental stages, diet and housing for species appropriate care.
- Perform upkeep and improvements to aviaries, flights, and compounds including cleaning substrate, maintaining buildings, building perches, etc.
- Collaborate with a team to develop individualized treatment plans and rehabilitation strategies.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational functionality of rehabilitation clinic including but not limited to; sterilization and sanitation of surfaces and medical equipment, laundry, and general maintenance.
- Assists with the care and routine monitoring of Avian Educational Ambassadors including food preparation, feeding, health care, and enrichment.
- Educate the community about avian conservation and serve as a community ambassador for REGI and native wildlife.
- Assists with primary and secondary instruction, teaching, and oversight of all REGI interns, externs, and volunteers.
- Euthanasia of non-repairable and non-releasable animals
- Other duties as required or assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- A valid driver's license
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with co-workers, volunteers, and the public.
- Must have a positive “Can do” attitude, be able to handle stressful situations calmly, demonstrate professionalism, exhibit a strong work ethic and be able to handle physically rigorous work as well as tedious routine work.
Other Notes:
• Weekend, holiday, and evening hours are required.
• Vacation time may be less available during the busy season, May through August.
