The Avian Behaviour and Conservation Laboratory led by Dr. Kevin Fraser in the Dept. Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg) is recruiting a PhD student for 2024. PhD projects would be aimed at investigating migration timing (development and plasticity) in purple martins, drawing on field studies/experiments to be developed and led by the student and existing migration tracking and timing data the lab has developed for this species. Work on these themes is part of a collaboration with Dr. Kira Delmore at Texas A&M University, offering additional opportunities for skill building in genomics.

Please send inquiries to Kevin.Fraser@umanitoba.ca and include a copy of your CV. You must contact Kevin Fraser first and full application to the University of Manitoba would occur afterward if offered a position. Deadline for applications to UM for a Jan or May 2024 start are Oct 1st 2022 and Feb 1st 2024 respectively for Canadian and US applicants. The deadline for a May 2024 start for International applicants is Nov 1st, 2022 (https://umanitoba.ca/explore/programs-of-study/biological-sciences-phd).
