    The Biology Department at Hobart and William Smith Colleges invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor with expertise in epidemiology to begin August 1, 2024. This is a full-time, one-year position with a teaching load of six courses over two semesters. The appointment has the possibility for renewal contingent on successful annual review and ongoing curricular needs. Teaching responsibilities will include an epidemiology course for our interdisciplinary program in public health, an upper-level course in biology that aligns with the candidate’s specialty, and potentially an introductory biology course tailored for non-majors. We are especially interested in candidates whose epidemiological research intersects with neurobiology, behavior, or cell biology. The Biology Department at HWS actively supports interdisciplinary collaboration, with regular contributions to programs in biochemistry, data analytics, environmental studies, and public health

    Hobart College for men and William Smith College for women, Hobart and William Smith today is a highly selective, gender diverse residential liberal arts institution with a single administration, faculty and curriculum. The Colleges are located in a small diverse city in the Finger Lakes region of New York State. With an enrollment of approximately 1,700, the Colleges provide a rigorous curriculum from which students choose two areas of concentration from a wide array of majors and minors, and offer three Master’s programs. Creative and extensive programs of international study and public service are also at the core of the Colleges’ mission.

    Qualifications

    We value candidates with a demonstrated interest in cross-disciplinary teaching. Candidates with a Ph.D. in an appropriate field by August 2024 are strongly preferred but A.B.D. with teaching experience will be considered.

    The salary range for this position is $55,244-$63,499.
