    The Department of Biology at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point is seeking applicants for a tenure-track, nine-month faculty position. The teaching load is twelve (12) student credit hours per semester (24 student credit hours/year) and will include an upper-level course in ornithology, introductory biology, and other courses depending on area(s) of interest, specialization, and department needs. Additional responsibilities include the development of a productive research program involving undergraduates, student advising, and department, school, college, and university-level service.

    The Department of Biology is part of the School of Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry in the College of Letters and Science (https://www.uwsp.edu/sbcb/school-of-biology-chemistry-and-biochemistry/). The Department consists of 22 tenure-track faculty and staff housed in the Trainer Natural Resources Building, the new, state-of-the-art Chemistry Biology Building, and at two branch campuses (UWSP Marshfield and UWSP Wausau). Faculty in the Department of Biology represent a wide range of subdisciplines whose primary mission is teaching to, and performing research with, undergraduate students.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Ph.D. in biology or a closely related field.
    • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to high-quality undergraduate education.
    • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to involving undergraduate students in research.
    • Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to teach an upper-level lecture-lab course in ornithology.

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • An active and productive research program focused on organismal biology/ecology/evolution.
    • Experience with and/or demonstrated commitment to using molecular tools/approaches in research.
    • Experience using and/or managing natural history collections
