Hello, I am searching for willing banders to assist my graduate research on anthropogenic contamination in passerine communities. Any banding project is able to participate; actually, the more diverse amount of banding projects, the better. All that would be required is collecting feces off the specimens you are handling and storing them in a brown paper bag. After collection, the bags just need to be sent back to me. This is a low commitment participation… I will take whatever I can get! All banding projects will be acknowledged in my thesis and any following publications. If you are interested and would like some more information, please reach out to me at jme55571@huskies.bloomu.edu. Thank you!

Hi everyone, I hope you're good. I need a softcopy of Birds Of South Asia: The Ripley Guide by Pamela Rasmussen. I can't manage to afford its hardcopy neither I'm able to find it in libraries here, for my avian diversity research in Pakistan. Please do let me know if you could help in this regard. Warm regards, Azan Karam BS Zoology, UoS

Hello everyone! I'm starting my first independent research project looking at vocal systems anatomy in suboscines. I will be utilizing CT scans of museum specimens to construct 3D printed models of the syrinx, larynx, and trachea of a few different families of Tyrannidae (ideally one from each family). I have access to an excised larynx chamber, and I am hoping to be able to perform some modeling experiments with these models. I am planning on doing some basic biometric analysis as well, and comparing this data to known songs and calls from the species. If you are interested in endorsing my project or supporting it the link will follow: https://experiment.com/projects/how-does-morphology-affect-phonation-in-suboscine-songbirds. So glad to be a part of this group! Best wishes, Jenny

Dear all, We are a group of researchers from New Zealand and Brazil investigating the publication culture in taxonomy across all taxa. If you work with Taxonomy / Systematics, we kindly invite you to help us by filling a short survey. It should take no more than 5 minutes of your time. You can find the survey here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdC9BQk9vjsTccztL8sXmeGJUWi20F5XUKnHDWjcbc4BXLGCA/viewform It is entirely anonymous and the data gathered will be used for a publication on an academic journal. Thank you very much for your cooperation and feel free to share the survey with your colleagues. Please contact me for any eventual questions. Kind regards, Rodrigo Salvador.

Survey on Biodiversity Conservation and Climate Change
163234 posted a topic in News & Announcements
Hello Ornithology Exchange: I am contacting you to invite you to participate in our research on climate change and biodiversity management. Climate change and human pressures on ecosystems are intensifying and present new challenges for conservation practice, generating questions about the effectiveness of conventional approaches. Such challenges have also sparked debate about whether existing baselines are untenable; as well as when, where, and if we should pursue unconventional or more novel forms of intervention. We know these debates are strongly influenced by preferences and perceptions of experts, but little published information on these preferences exist. To fill this important gap, I am working with colleagues (Sarah Clements – University of Liverpool; Rachel Standish – Murdoch University) to administer a survey that examines how experts perceive the challenges of climate change relative to other pressures on ecosystems, and explores how their preferences might influence conservation practice. Insights from this survey will help identify some of the key challenges, research needs, and potential pathways to support climate change adaptation. I hope that you would be willing to spend about 20 minutes completing the survey, which is available here: https://liverpool.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/biodiversity-and-climate-change. We are also keen to get broad coverage in disciplinary expertise and experience, as well as geography. Would you be willing to distribute this survey to your networks? Alternatively, if you have recommendations for people or organizations we should contact directly, please let me know. We have also created a call for participants page, which can be found here: https://www.callforparticipants.com/study/page-summary/RDYRM. If you could distribute this page through your social media or professional networks, we would greatly appreciate it. This study has received ethical approval from the University of Liverpool (Application #3256). More information about the study can be found here: https://static.onlinesurveys.ac.uk/media/account/111/survey/473545/question/information_sheet_biodiversity.pdf. If you have any questions about the survey or the ethical aspects, please contact me or Dr. Sarah Clement at sclement@liverpool.ac.uk, who is leading the survey. Your time is greatly appreciated and will contribute to discussion and debate about how to manage biodiversity in the Anthropocene. We hope to receive your response to the survey by 15 August 2019.
