Powdermill Avian Research Center (www.powdermillarc.org) is pleased to announce that it will be holding two “Ageing Birds via Molt Limits” VIRTUAL workshops on January 15-17, 2022 and February 19-21, 2022. The workshops will begin at 8:00am and end at roughly 4:00pm (eastern time zone) each day with a lunch break and several short get-up-and-stretch breaks. The workshops will be held via Zoom. Because these are virtual workshops, there will not be a hands-on component, however we will have up-close instruction on ageing and sexing birds, and banding techniques, using high quality videos and photographs taken during normal banding operations. This will be complimented with presentations and discussions about banding methodology, molt terminology including discussion of molt cycles, using molt limits to age North American passerines, how to use the Pyle Guide, scientific use of banding data, and ethics and permitting. The focus of these workshops is to train participants to recognize molt limits and to age and sex North American passerines. The workshop’s intended audience is those use bird banding in their research, including bird banding professionals, graduate students, volunteers at banding stations, wildlife professionals, or ornithologists. The cost is $250 per person, or $150 for students who are paying their own registration fee or Latin Americans who are working in Latin America. The workshop will be taught by an NABC-certified Trainer and follow NABC principles, standards, and ethics. To express interest in one of these workshops, please fill out the following Google Form: http://goo.gl/forms/kaQiLhs1aZ Space in each of our workshops is limited, so please fill out the google form soon.
