<To be thaught in spanish> El Área de Ornitología del Museo de Historia Natural de la Universidad Nacional de San Agustín (MUSA) organiza e invita a estudiantes, profesionales y a la comunidad en general al I Taller en bioacústica: Análisis de sonidos animales en R Instructor: Marcelo Araya Salas, biólogo evolutivo/ecólogo del comportamiento y programador en el lenguaje R. Su trabajo se ha enfocado en comprender los procesos evolutivos y culturales que han han moldeado el comportamiento vocal, teniendo como grupo principal de estudio los cantos aprendidos en colibries. Actualmente trabaja como investigador postdoctoral en la Universidad de Costa Rica Pagina del curso: https://marceloarayasalas.weebly.com/taller_arequipa.html Fecha y lugar: Universidad Nacional de San Agustín de Arequipa, Arequipa, Perú 26 al 29 de abril de 2019 Detalles del taller: Trata el uso de métodos modernos para el análisis de sonidos animales, enfocándose en la caracterización de su estructura y el uso de estas medidas en estudios conductuales y de descripción de variación intra e inter-específica Combina clases, discusiones y prácticas de análisis de sonidos animales con distintas herramientas (paquetes), incluyendo funciones y rutinas que han sido desarrolladas por el instructor Dirigido a estudiantes interesados en el uso de la bioacústica como una herramienta para entender los factores ecológicos/evolutivos que han moldeado los sistemas de comunicación acústica en animales Se dará prioridad a los estudiantes con conocimiento previo en el lenguaje de programación R Programa del cruso ¿Como inscribirse? 4th International Symposium on Acoustic Communication by Animals

The Acoustical Society of America has partnered with Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium (HDZ) to bring together a diverse community of scientists, engineers, teachers and students to the Fourth International Symposium on Acoustic Communication by Animals. This four-day symposium is designed to address contemporary topics in animal acoustic communication across a wide range of taxa, including arthropods, lizards and amphibians, as well as birds, fish and terrestrial and marine mammals. We have an extraordinary slate of keynote and invited speakers, covering a broad range of topics and taxa. Please plan to attend, participate and share your work. Pre-Symposium Workshop: The scientific program of the 4th International Symposium will be preceded on Monday, 17 July 2017, by a half-day workshop in which key questions related to The Impact of Anthropogenic Noise on Animal Acoustic Communication will be discussed. The workshop is free to all registrants. Call for Abstracts: We invite you to participate in the 4th International Symposium. The abstract submission period is now open and those interested in giving an oral or poster presentation must submit an abstract by May 1st, 2017. Two-page extended abstracts must be submitted using the format of the template format provided on the abstract submission website. Registration is Now Open: Early registration is now open and the deadline for special, discounted rates is May 1st, 2017.
