Braddock Bay Bird Observatory is pleased to offer an advanced class aimed at preparing banders who are currently involved with or who are considering opening MAPS stations, or who might otherwise benefit from instruction in collecting the types of data suggested by the MAPS program. Spring Extraction/Banding Workshop: Wednesday, May 13 - Sunday, May 17, 2020 The workshop will begin before dawn on Wednesday (5/13) and end Sunday (5/17) at noon. Participants should plan to arrive Tuesday as we may have an introductory lecture that evening. 19th – 26th August 2019 Powdermill Nature Reserve Powdermill Nature Reserve is pleased to announce that we will be holding an Advanced Ornithological Techniques Course for Latin Americans the 19th – 26th of August. Topics include best banding practices, ageing birds via molt limits, Motus Wildlife Tracking systems, molecular identification of diet and gut microflora, ecological impacts of frugivorous birds, bioacoustics, and utility of museum specimens for ecological research. Most of the course will be in English with Spanish-speaking instructors participating throughout its duration.

I am pleased to announce that Powdermill Nature Reserve will be holding an “Ageing Birds with Molt Limits” workshop in September 2019. Rocky Point Bird Observatory Introductory Bird Monitoring and Banding Workshop March 24 -26, 2017 The three-day workshop will focus on bird identification, monitoring procedures and techniques, sexing, and ageing. Components also include an owl monitoring and banding demo and an optional session on hummingbird banding.
