  • Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History

    Chris Merkord

The mission of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute of Natural History is to continue the legacy of Roger Tory Peterson by promoting the teaching and study of nature, and to thereby create knowledge of and appreciation and responsibility for the natural world.

The Roger Tory Peterson Institute is a national private not-for-profit corporation based in Jamestown, New York. The Mission is to be accomplished by Trustees, Staff and Volunteers with educational programs for children and adults. The programs will address the compelling issue of the lack of understanding of the natural world in our daily lives.

The mission includes housing, preserving, exhibiting, and making available for education the Roger Tory Peterson Collection. On a limited scale, the creative works of other interpretive naturalists will also be collected.
