  1. GMEC is seeking multiple field biologists for their Buffalo, WY, field office. Previous experience conducting avian surveys within the western region is required. Avian-related field work will include conducting greater sage-grouse lek counts, avian point counts, migratory surveys, raptor nest searches, and raptor nesting occupancy/productivity surveys. Avian surveys will make up the bulk of field work; however, surveys will also be conducted for other sensitive small mammals, herp species, plants, and wetland habitats. Wetland delineation experience is a plus. Travel is a large part of the position. The individual will be stationed out of Buffalo, WY, but may conduct surveys across Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, and Colorado. One position would start immediately with a focus on point-counts. Other positions would start at the end of March and last through summer 2019 with the potential for extension. Salary: DOE Qualifications · BS in wildlife biology related field · Previous experience conducting avian surveys · Extensive experience identifying avian species in the western region · Individual must be in good physical condition capable of hiking long distances through variable terrain · Experience operating off-road vehicles, hauling trailers, and navigating through remote areas · Comfortable working independently and conducting avian surveys in extreme temperatures Preferred Qualifications · Experience conducting avian point counts · Experience conducting raptor nesting/breeding surveys · Experience conducting surveys for other species of concern, sensitive species, and T&E species within the western region · Experience operating ArcGIS as well as Microsoft Access and Excel software · Wetland Delineation experience (a plus!)
