The Raptor Research Foundation is now accepting proposals for the 2023 Beingolea Grant, which provides financial support for field research on birds of prey in Latin America (including the Guianas) and the Caribbean. Projects that bring attention to poorly known raptor species, ecosystems, or research questions are especially encouraged, as are projects that include a conservation and/or community engagement component. This grant was established in honor of Peruvian falconer and raptor researcher Oscar Beingolea. Grant Amount: $2,000 plus waived publication fees in the Journal of Raptor Research Raptor researchers conducting field research in Latin America and/or the Caribbean (Mexico, Central America, South America and associated islands) are eligible to apply.   2. The Oscar Beingolea Raptor Research Grant provides financial support for field research on birds of prey in Latin America (including the Guianas) and the Caribbean. We especially encourage projects that bring attention to poorly known species, systems, or questions, and those that include a conservation and/or community engagement component. Priority will be given to proposals from Latin American and/or Caribbean residents with limited access to other funding. The annual deadline for applications is JUNE 30. To apply, applicants should submit the following three documents as pdf files via the website: https://raptorresearchfoundation.org/grants-awards/beingolea-raptor-research-grant/ 1 - cover letter highlighting the motivations, objectives, and expected outcomes of the study 2 - applicant’s CV 3 - proposal of no more than five pages, including: (a) background and justification (need); (b) study objectives and methods; (c) budget detailing how funds will be spent; (d) list of other funding sources, both requested and received; (e) expected results; (f) literature cited. Applications should be submitted in English but translation/editorial assistance is available to applicants whose first language is Spanish, Portuguese, or French: >> La beca de investigación de aves rapaces Oscar Beingolea provee apoyo económico para investigación de campo de aves rapaces en América Latina (incluyendo las Guayanas) y el Caribe. Apoyamos especialmente los proyectos que estudien especies, sistemas o cuestiones poco conocidas, además de aquellas que incluyan un componente de conservación y participación de comunidades locales.
