We require a number of enthusiastic assistants to make observations on land and water, band passerines, small hawks, and owls for our autumn season. Applicants should have good identification skills of eastern North American birds or a quick ability to learn. Handling skills are also an asset.

The station is located outside of Thunder Bay on the north shore of Lake Superior at a remote site with primary access by boat. The station has solar power and limited internet access, a fridge and stove. Daily activities include 7 hours of catching and observing and afterwards, participate in data entry and basic station chores.

The fall season offers the opportunity to attract Common Nighthawks and conduct our Northern Saw-whet Owl protocol. Training in the handling of birds/banding is offered as time allows.

Long-term Volunteers, those who offer 3-6 weeks, are provided with food and accommodation. Shorter term individuals are welcome to apply and may be charged a small daily fee.  The season runs from July 26 to October 31.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
