    1) Backup for Senior Wildlife Specialist to transport injured wildlife- chiefly birds, to wildlife rehabilitation center.  Backup is requirement of client, but has never been called for transport work in over 10 years.  This is essentially an emergency contact person in case the Senior Wildlife Specialist cannot respond.  There is no obligation for the backup to respond.  There has only been two incidents involving transport of wildlife in 4 years and these have all been handled by the Senior Wildlife Specialist.

    2) Assist Senior Wildlife Specialist in placing crudely taxidermied gull carcasses on flat, industrial rooftops to control loafing by gulls.  Tasks entail carrying up to 25 lb bag of gull effigies up 6-8 foot fixed ladders, removing spent effigies, affixing new effigies to tripods, and disposing of spent effigies.  This contract position is only for approximately 5-6 hours, 2-3 times a year- the work required to be done in at least late March and early December.  These times are usually scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance.  PPE is required and will be reimbursed and/or supplied.  Mileage from points in and proximal to southeast Michigan west to Lansing are reimbursed.  Drug test and 2-3 hour training is required, and will be reimbursed.

The ideal candidate will have a flexible, full- or part-time job, and interest in wildlife.  In addition the candidate must be responsible, honest, and show up when scheduled, have good communication skills, possess a valid driver's license and vehicle, not be squeamish about handling dead or live birds, physically fit to walk approximately 0.25 miles, have full manual dexterity, able to ascend 6-8 foot ladders, not be fearful of heights or being conveyed to a rooftop in a lift boom, be comfortable working in a heavy industrial setting, able to pass a 10-panel drug test, and to successfully pass a quiz after viewing self-guided safety training presentation.  The minimum of an Associate's Degree in the sciences is preferred, but is not essential.
