    Two to three technicians ($15-18/hr plus housing) needed to assist with American White Pelican management under the supervision of Idaho Fish and Game in Island Park, Idaho. Project goal is to manage for a maximum of 300 breeding pelicans on at the Island Park Reservoir colony. Duties include: hazing pelicans, installing barrier fencing, installing game cameras, conducting a nest count, and collecting and entering data on bird numbers and locations. Work with be 40 hours per week and some weekend work will be required. Some occasional opportunities to assist with other IDFG fisheries and wildlife projects will be possible.

    This is a logistically demanding position in late winter conditions at a high-elevation reservoir. Preferred applicants will have experience with 4x4 vehicles, trailers, snowmachines, ATV's, UTV's, canoes, and powerboats on large open water. A completed or in-progress degree in a natural resources field preferred but not required. Applicants should be comfortable working on a project that addresses pelican-fisheries conflict management and be able to effectively communicate with the public. Applicants must also be willing to live on-site with other technicians during the work week (housing in a cabin or camp trailer is provided at no cost). Position will run from approximately early April to early June (maximum 2.5 months). Some flexibility (1-2 weeks) around end date may be possible to accommodate applicants seeking summer employment elsewhere. For qualified individuals, opportunities may exist to continue employment in Idaho through the summer with IDFG (please see IDFG website for seasonal job opportunities).
