Field surveys on avian point counts and setting bat acoustic detectors in forested coastal Oregon. This research is paired with a regional pollinator (native bee) research effort.  We are intensively monitoring pollinator populations and available flowering plants for an upcoming floral enhancement project.  Because we hope floral resources will positively impact portions of the insect communities, we also aim to collect data on species that consume such insects (and nectar). Our objectives will be to 1) collect information on avian and bat species richness within sub-basin watersheds that differ in average stand age as part of a landscape-scale replicated study, 2) combine surveys with stand level metrics such as age and size as well as existing floral resources. Primary duties of crew members will consist of avian point counts, setting up acoustic equipment, evaluating data for errors, and entering data.
