Location: Leesville, Louisiana
Salary: $15/hour + free housing
Starting Date: January 6, 2025 and March 3, 2025
The School of Renewable Natural Resources at Louisiana State University is seeking 4 experienced field technicians to assist a research project evaluating Eastern wild turkey reproductive ecology in West Louisiana. Two positions will begin on January 6, 2025 and will last for 6 months, and two will begin on March 3, 2025 with a duration of 6 months as well. Starting dates can be somewhat flexible.
Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, capturing, marking, and tracking wild turkeys via radio-telemetry, nest and brood monitoring, acoustic monitor maintenance, vegetation surveys, predator camera grid maintenance, and data management. This will involve working both independently and as part of a small team. Fieldwork may be strenuous and requires working in hot and humid environments. The successful candidate will work with a team of graduate students, field technicians, private landowners, university faculty, state biologists.
Salary is $15/hour with shared housing and a work vehicle provided. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.

Radio telemetry and wildlife tracking
Vegetation sampling
Driving an ATV and trailer
Working as a team and independently
Wildlife Handling
Deploying camera traps
Required Qualifications:
B.S. in Biology or a related field
Valid U.S. license
Experience driving 4WD vehicles
