Job duration: August 20 through Nov. 10
Duties: Identify, count and record waterbirds utilizing the Mackinac Straits. Requires the use of binoculars and spotting scope. Must legibly keep hourly records of the numbers of individuals of each species and movements of waterbirds on provided forms. Six hours per day starting a 15 minutes before sunrise. Must write and post blogs 2 times per week on MSRW website. Required to write seasonal summary report.
Qualifications: Must be proficient at identifying waterbirds of the Great Lakes Region; in flight and on water. Must be experienced using binoculars, spotting scope, and recording data. Must have own binoculars in good working condition, spotting scope a plus. Be able to withstand cold working conditions and have cold weather gear. Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
Salary: $1600 to $1800 per month DOE, housing included.
