Rhode Island National Wildlife Refuge Complex is comprised of five national wildlife refuges with two visitor centers and two contact stations. Responsibilities include leading school groups on field trips, assisting at the visitor centers, developing or assisting summer programs for all ages, monitoring visitor use at a Sandy Point Island in the summer months, writing reports, conducting visitation counts, and helping to welcome visitors to the refuges in Rhode Island. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills, and have the ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions, especially heat and humidity, walk long distances on the beach, endure biting insects, and to work well with children and co-workers. Applicants must be a team player, capable of working with partners from other conservation organizations and willing to become certified as a motorboat operator. Additionally, applicants must possess a valid driver’s license.
One position is available from April 8 to August 23 (some flexibility for the start and end date exists). Compensation: $215/wk plus possible housing.
