More information about the project can be found at https://trumpeterswan.netlify.com. Fieldwork will consist of the capture and banding of trumpeter swans on their breeding grounds throughout Minnesota. Swans will be fitted with GPS/GSM transmitters to study habitat use and annual movements. Working periods may occasionally be up to 10 days at a time but will typically follow a 7-on/3-off schedule. Housing will be provided throughout the field season although a personal car will provide more flexibility during time off. Pay will be $2300-2500/month, depending on experience and qualifications. Position will start approximately mid-late June and continue through at least mid-August with the possibility for extension into early September.
