    Seasonal Research Technician -- Point Counts

    We are seeking a highly motivated, seasonal research technician to conduct avian point counts for birds in restored pine-woodland forests in the Missouri Ozarks from mid-May through July 2020. Housing and work vehicle will be provided. Primary responsibilities include conducting avian point counts and vegetation collection in the Mark Twain National Forest. The technician will work closely with and be supervised by another permanent technician. Data gathering, entry, and management skills will be required. The position requires early, long and irregular hours under remote and adverse conditions (heat, rain, mosquitoes, etc.). Individuals will be required to work alone and in groups. The surrounding area offers exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities (hiking, fishing, camping, Ozark stream paddling).

    Salary: $15/hr


    At a minimum, candidates should be enrolled in a Wildlife, Ecology, Biology, or a related undergraduate program. Candidates must also be in good physical condition to traverse rough and rugged terrain. Preferred candidates will have field experience with avian point counts and will be able to demonstrate experience in identifying birds by sight and sound.
