    Start date:  May 15, 2023.  End date:  August 6, 2023.  This internship is through the Student Conservation Association (SCA) - please apply through SCA.  Main duties include conducting Bobwhite Quail whistling cock surveys, collecting GPS data, assisting with red-cockaded woodpecker monitoring (including using a spotting scope to read band combinations and assess group status), cleaning out red-cockaded woodpecker cavities, mourning dove trapping and banding, and assisting with environmental education events, such as a Kids Fishing Derby and school groups.  Also will assist in Forestry activities such as forest inventory, marking, and cruising and Refuge operations, such as maintenance, public use, sign installation, facility upkeep, water level management, etc.  This is a "Jack" or "Jill" of all trades position, e.g., you will get experience in every program of refuge operations.  Compensation details through SCA:  $1,100 one-time round trip travel allowance, $300/week living allowance, eligible for an AmeriCorps education award, and free housing, utilities, and wifi.
