AVIAN FIELD TECHNICIAN (1) needed for bird surveys in Arizona. Great Basin Bird
Observatory is seeking one field technician to conduct riparian bird surveys throughout
Arizona. Training will begin April 3 and surveys will run through mid-June. Surveyor
must be available the entire season. Duties include area searches of all breeding birds and
territory mapping, with data collection on tablets, and post-processing using ArcGIS
Online. The ability to learn identification of >100 bird species by sight and sound after
training, and willingness to work independently in remote areas, including operation of
4wd vehicles, are essential. This position will involve extensive travel and camping
throughout Arizona, with shared housing provided for days off. Field vehicle will be
provided. Surveyors will be hired as seasonal temporary GBBO employees and paid
$2200-$2400/month depending on experience. GBBO policy requires all technicians to
show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or an approved exemption. Please send a brief
