
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who bring both skills and a willingness to learn for our spring and/or autumn migration seasons. Spring season runs from the end of April into the first week of June. Autumn commences in the last week of July and ends on October 31. Incorporated into our protocol are standardised observations and mist netting. Training is offered. Candidates should have basic eastern North America avian identification ability and/or some knowledge of handling of avian species. Thunder Cape Bird Observatory is located at a remote location on the north shore of Lake Superior accessed by boat or a 13km hike. There are times when weather conditions are demanding. The main cabin and lab accommodates 6 Volunteers. Those staying for 3 or more weeks are provided with housing and food.
Applicants from outside of Canada are welcome. Please note that all Volunteers must be fully vaccinated for Sars-CoV-2 and adhere to best practice in advance of arrival.
