    A unique experience to be a field technician aiding a graduate research project on Great horned owl habitat use and movement in prairie Canada.  This project will be a great opportunity to learn avian monitoring techniques, capturing and handling techniques of owls, use of satellite transmitter technology, and habitat characterizations. 

    Our project is based out of Val Marie, Saskatchewan, with extensive travel within the Southwestern corner of the province. This is a unique area of the province with an amazing opportunity to work in a grassland landscape with multiple stakeholders. If you want to be immersed in an amazing landscape with lots of unique and endangered birds and mammals, this is the place for you!

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    -       Assisting with nest camera set-up and maintenance

    -        Assisting with adult owl capturing

    -         Data entry

    -         Habitat characterization (i.e., vegetation and perch measurements)

    -         Other field activities as required but not limited to: Field setup, supplies inventory, field vehicle maintenance.


    The position will last for two months (as soon as possible until the end of July 2022); however, there is the possibility of extension for the month of August. Given the quick turnaround time needed to hire someone, only Canadian citizens will be considered.


    Pay will be commensurate with experience, but would range from $12-20 per hour (CAD).
