    Grassland Bird Research Crew Leader

    This project focusses on the population ecology of prairie songbirds in relation to weather and habitat. It is situated in SE Alberta in a 250 square km National Wildlife Area of native prairie habitat. This area supports a diverse suite of grassland birds including species at risk. The position will run from approximately mid-April-mid August. The primary duties of the crew leader will be directing 2 field assistants in nest finding and monitoring and capture and colour-banding of songbirds. Daily driving of a 4x4 truck is required and conditions include very early mornings, and a wide range of temperatures.


    Canadian Citizen

    Valid Driver's License

    Experience finding and monitoring bird nests

    Experience banding passerines - preference given to applicants who can obtain a banding sub-permit

    Strong interest in avian ecology and research
