Research assistants are needed for a study of the mechanisms underlying the reproductive behavior of white-throated sparrows (Zonotrichia albicollis) breeding near Duluth, Minnesota, USA.  We are seeking promising undergraduates or recent postgraduates in Biology, Ecology, Wildlife Biology, or a related field.  The work will comprise diverse responsibilities, including nest searching and nest monitoring, behavioral assays of aggression and parental care, mist netting, banding, and data collection and management.  Fieldwork will begin in early May and end in late July. Preferred qualifications include: coursework in ornithology, wildlife ecology, and/or animal behavior; a sincere interest in learning field research techniques; and the ability to endure the rigors of field work.  Prior experience with avian behavior studies and/or nest searching is required.  Assistants will receive a stipend of $1200 per month, and housing will be provided for non-local assistants.  If interested, please submit a cover letter, resume (with a list of relevant coursework), and contact information for three references via email to Dr. Donna Maney at dmaney-AT-emory.edu.  Review of applications will continue until the positions are filled.
