One seasonal field technician position is available at the USGS Kansas Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit within the Division of Biology at Kansas State University. As a part of a collaborative conservation and research effort, we are seeking skilled individuals to assist with a lesser prairie-chicken translocation project in Elkhart, KS.
A successful applicant will possess abilities and expertise with VHF radio-telemetry, identification of prairie plant species, and demonstrated ability to collect vegetation data on public and private land. A valid driver’s license is required, and experience with four wheel drive vehicles is preferred. Duties will consist of 40% vegetation data collection, 40% radio telemetry monitoring, and 20% data entry.
B.S. in Natural Resources, Biology, or an equivalent field is preferred. We offer a competitive salary and support training opportunities for field and lab techniques.
This is a temporary position, running from the beginning of August through the end of October 2019.
