    We are seeking applications for a field tech position to work alongside a PhD student (Anna Freundlich) in the Burkle lab in the Ecology Department at Montana State University. The field tech will work in sagebrush habitat on the Charles M Russell National Wildlife Refuge to study how invasive annual grass herbicide treatments influence native vegetation, bee pollinators, and birds using pre- and post-treatment assessments. We are particularly seeking individuals with experience identifying birds and performing point counts. Field work will likely begin in mid-May and continue through the summer until mid-August (start and end dates somewhat flexible). The budgeted salary is $5000 with free housing on the refuge available for use the entire summer.

    Requirements

    ·       Valid driver’s license

    ·       Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    ·       Attention to detail and safety protocols

    ·       Willingness to spend the field season in a remote location (summer housing provided)

    Preferred Qualifications

    ·       Knowledge of avian identification and point count methods, pollinator collections, or plant identification

    ·       Previous experience performing field work

    ·       Undergraduate degree in ecology, biology or related field
