    Title: Digital Content Creator

    Compensation: $15/hr

    Schedule: 4 months

    Location: Remote

    Application Deadline: 7/29/22

    Description:

Wild Bird Research Group is offering a paid part-time position for a Digital Content Creator.  The Digital Content Creator will be tasked with utilizing multiple platforms and written media (fact sheets, emails, social media posts, newsletter articles, press releases, posters, etc.) to communicate information about birds, bird-related conservation topics, and developments in WBRG’s various research projects to our followers and to the general public.  The individual will play an integral role in creating the published content that will be the public face of the organization.  The Digital Content Creator will work closely with our Fundraising and Media committees to produce content that helps achieve our organization’s goals.

Ideal candidates will: have the ability to write engaging content that is scientifically accurate but understandable by the general public; have a strong interest in birds and a grasp of bird biology and conservation; have a strong work ethic and be capable of working remotely and independently; and bring creativity, enthusiasm, thoughtfulness, thoroughness, and originality to their work. Because information is more effectively conveyed in combination with visually-appealing graphics, candidates that also have experience with graphic design and graphic design software (publisher, photoshop, illustrator, etc.) will be given priority.

This paid position is approximately 4 - 6 hours per week and spans six months, with the possibility of additional hours upon reassessment after four months. Compensation will be hourly.  The position will be entirely remote (unless the individual is local and wishes to attend meetings and events) and the schedule can be flexible as needed.  You will report directly to the organization’s Creative Director and will interface with the Media and Fundraising committees of the organization’s Board of Directors.

    How to Apply:

Please email the following to info@wildbirdresearch.org:

    • A cover letter and one-page resume highlighting applicable work and skills.
    • A short (1-page maximum) example of original science writing on any topic relating to birds or bird research.  This can be an excerpt if you have applicable past work.  The writing should be journalistic in style, summarizing scientific information on the topic of birds in language that would be engaging and understandable to the general public.
    • Optional: You may include additional works (writing, posters, graphics, etc.) that you have done previously that exhibit skills relevant to the job described above.
